Stanwood Camano Community Scholarships
From the Stanwood-Camano Area Foundation’s inception in 1960, hundreds of deserving students have benefited from the Foundation’s tuition scholarships. Over the year, generous donors have established over 20 permanent funds, now totally over $650,000. This living, lasting legacy ensures that our students will be eligible to receive Foundation scholarships NOW and FOREVER!
The Foundation administers the funds with objectivity and integrity and ensures that awards comply with all scholarship-related tax laws. The Foundation helps donors establish selection criteria, publicize the scholarship and select recipients.
The Foundation is able to maximize and leverage our local scholarships through its affiliation with Dollars for Scholars. A growing number of post secondary institutions have formally become Collegiate Partners and do not reduce their grant aid when scholarships awarded through Dollars for Scholars chapters come to their campuses. Some of these institutions also match a portion of the scholarships administered locally. In order to make these benefits available to more of our students, the Foundation partners with other local scholarship organizations. The organizations raise funds and select their own scholarship winners. The Foundation administers the scholarships, making all awards eligible for Dollars for Scholars benefits: A WIN-WIN for everyone!
