2019 High School Scholarship Awards

The Stanwood Camano Area Foundation, in partnership with The American Legion Post 92 and SHS, hosted their annual Scholarship Night on May 28th at the Stanwood High School Performing Arts Center. Gina Seegert, American Legion Commander, emceed the event, and the Legion Auxiliary provided refreshments.

114 graduating seniors received 261 scholarships from 91 sponsors valued at $184,627. 23 of those scholarships were renewable for an additional one to three years, bringing the total value of the awards up to a record breaking $223,127.

All scholarships presented on Scholarship Night are sponsored by local individuals, families, businesses, and community organizations. Many are from endowments that were set up years ago by local families to create a perpetual annual scholarship in memory of a lost loved one. Any senior living within the Stanwood-Camano School District is eligible to apply, even if homeschooled or attending a private school.

This year several new scholarships were added, including the James B. Lund Agricultural Scholarship, Lars Holum Memorial Scholarship, Milnes Scholarship, Schlosser Family Memorial Scholarship, Seth Nelson Memorial Scholarship and Theresa E. Nicholas Memorial Scholarship.
